A Dubbers life..

Alright, alright.. I’ve been out of the game for over a year now. I know, it’s a joke right? Yeah, considering I went from having the worlds mintest Mk1 GTI at a value of close to 4K to having a rusty Vento, which I think was actually my last VW. Infact, yes it was.. it completely put me off them. Heaps of shit.

YEAH, so.. Here I am again. I have been hiding a Mk2 golf from you all for 6 months, HA, take THAT secret stealers. Here’s the s-tories*.

In erm, 2008? I bought H456 off our very own Adam Loliver.

Which was 80% mint at that point.. My intention, after breaking it a bit, was to put bike carbs on it, swap the RM’s for RS’s and get a bit of bodywork done. That never happened. I had RS’s sat in my garage for a year going pitted, I had a MK2 sat in my sisters garage for a year getting dented and had an engine in it, half built, that wouldn’t run. At this point I sold the car to a friend of mine (Tricky), who took all the good bits off :P and sold them BUT, he got it running and returned it to it’s former state as a proper Mk2 Golf GTI. So, around comes the arse end of 2010 and I have been through Mr2 turbos, 325 BMW’s and other rusty cars, I decide I want the Mk2 back.. I get it back.. I break it within 24 hours and it sits on my driveway for 3 months!!!! See the pattern? Fuck you Wolfsburg.

In the meantime, a friend of mine heroes his Mk3 VR6 into the back of a Clio. What’s that you say? “OOooo”? Yeah, you would have said Oooo if you were in the car with him, 35 minutes after buying it!

So, I bid him in the balls for it and started to rip the Engine out of the Mk2.. again!

The car is still sat in that exact sate, however. I don’t own it anymore. I swapped it for something which I’ve wanted for a very long time. The Mk1 ruined my mind forever, if it isn’t pre 90, I’m not interested anymore. I’ve gotten myself a B plate GTI, in alpine white and in need of a bit of TLC. All welding has been done – if it needed any. The engine bay is mint and it’s going to have all the predicted engine and running gear from the big bumper one on/in. The bodywork is ok but, it’s not an issue because we’re going to see Dark Dub boyo!

So expect a Small bumper Mk2 VR6 here anytime in the next 12 years. Expect, archless, beigeness, tweed clad goodness and 200 bhp. Of course this is all subject to change because, I’m fucking useless.

Last night was a night of Suspension swapping and subframe building. I’m staying narrow track with no power steering (because it can eat my arse).

We started at 7pm and finished at 11:30pm. Proper driveway dubbing

*Tories FTW.

if you need help or advice at any time just ask pal, do you have all the parts for this build? it should take a good weekend to do a mk2 VR conversion

Just a very slow build this one.. Making a new post now with what I’ve been up to. “Driveway built show cars LTD” ;)

I’m a bit miffed on how to get the clocks sitting right against the Mk2 dash and the other thing is the wiring. It scares me.
